Released August 27th 2022, the FAUST x Nike SB Dunk High celebrates the 20th anniversary of Nike SB Dunk with a design created by the NY-based graffiti artist FAUST. FAUST began painting graffiti, and collecting Nikes, as a teenager. Now renowned, his calligraphic work has amassed an audience far beyond the street, receiving accolades from the design industry and exhibited in museums and galleries worldwide. The formal qualities of FAUST's murals explore scale and placement, challenging the viewer's perception of graffiti. He incorporates poignant, site-specific language to prompt public discourse and connect with the community, at home and abroad. Ultimately, FAUST's work transforms any surface it adorns, elevating "vandalism" into works of Art.
Dripped in premium leather with velvety underlays and a smooth satin lining, the asymmetrical design pushes the boundaries of the long list of grailed sneakers in the SB pantheon. Bridging skate culture with fashion, the all-black upper features regal pops of gold, paying homage to the classic New York City wardrobe - and common FAUST motif. Messages written in “Metallic Gold” embroidery are tagged across the entire sneaker reading "Sure Faust" - honouring the artist's graffiti partner and best friend, Sure, who passed away in 2010 while serving his country in Afghanistan. "All That Matters" pays tribute to FAUST's crew, while “Sell Your Sole” and “Sell Your Soul” read on the insoles. Custom lace tips debossed with froSkate graphics are seen on 4 sets of laces. “The Devil is in The Details” is written in cursive on the bottom side of the Zoom Air bag to complete the many details.
