Released March 26th 2024 to celebrate Air Max Day, an icon is revitalised. Pulling from the archives, the Nike Air Max 1 '86 “Big Bubble - Air Max Day” tells one of Nike's biggest stories: revealing Air to the world. But the lesser-known fact is that for the first few months of its release, the Air Max 1 featured a noticeably bigger window. So, why did the window shrink? Nike discovered an exposed Air unit tends to crack in cold temperatures, so Nike engineers had to adjust on the fly. Nike created a new Air unit and quietly "shrunk the window both in length and height". Lucky for us, it's not the '80s any more. The bubble-bursting days of yesteryear stayed where they belong - firmly rooted in the past, and for all our fellow Air Max heads, the “Royal Blue,” White and “Neutral Grey” colour-blocking looks as striking today as it did back in the day. Dripped in breezy textiles in the upper pair with a vibrant “Volt” foam midsole for bold comfort. The signature “Royal Blue” branding pops against the classic backdrop for a clean callback to '86. This "Big Bubble" edition honours the origins of visible Nike Air, all while keeping it right where it belongs - under your feet for the journey forwards.
