Released May 9th 2023, the Nike Dunk High “San Francisco Pack – Gold Mountain” is designed to honour San Francisco's Chinatown - the oldest Chinatown in the U.S. and one of the largest Chinese enclaves outside of Asia - this AF1 celebrates the strength of this enduring community. During the California Gold Rush, stories of "Gam Saan" (金山) or "Gold Mountain" attracted immigrants who ultimately carved out a place for themselves to preserve their traditions, laying a foundation for future residents. This Dunk High is inspired by this neighbourhood and the city that surrounds it. Dripped in premium leather and luscious suede, an Ocean-Blue sole pairs with earthy tones and textures throughout, nodding to the California landscape. Emerging through clouds, a Gold Mountain graphic can be seen on the heels representing hope, while the tongue and insole are adorned with lotus flowers and characters spelling 旧金山 (Gau Gam Saan, or "Old Gold Mountain"), a blessing of good fortune for every step. Nike is proud to invest in non-profits working to advance equality in communities where everyone can thrive. One of the Swoosh partners is The Asian American Foundation (TAAF) whose mission is to serve the AAPI community in their pursuit of belonging and prosperity that is free from discrimination, slander and violence.
