Released February 27th 2021, the Nike SB Dunk Low “Gulf” is inspired by one of the most iconic race cars of all time, the Porsche 917. Capable of doing 0-60mph in 2.7 seconds, the 917 won the German car manufacture’s first ever 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1970. Porsche would go on to win a further 18 Le Mans races. Painted in its iconic Gulf Oil Livery - baby blue with orange stripes- the race car was featured in the 1971 film “Le Mans” starring Steve McQueen, in 2017 the very same car was sold at auction for $14 Million. The Nike SB Dunk Low “Gulf” colourway is a clear nod to the Porsche 917, while the number “58” can be seen on the Dunks heels and tongue tabs, inspired by classic numbered decals found the race cars. These sneakers are a beautiful tribute to mankind’s engineering. Crazy dope Dunk!
