The postponement of skateboarding's debut on the summer stage at the Tokyo Olympics might have put some dreams on pause but it brought others to fruition. Parra's original idea to have a Nike SB Dunk Low to coordinate with the launch of the Federation Kits he was developing for the moment became a reality due to the added time and a new opportunity to evolve his design aesthetic using his signature tones and styles. A celebration of skate, sporting culture and Piet Parra’s signature styling, Federations Kits is an official collection designed by both Nike SB and the ideational Dutch designer. The Nike SB x Parra Olympic Team Kit release emerges in conjunction with the arrival of the postponed Tokyo 2020 Olympics, with skate contests due to start July 25th 2021. Sponsoring the skate teams of four federations - the USA, France, Brazil and Japan, the capsule collection acts as a celebration of skateboarding’s official inauguration as an Olympic recognised sport at the games. Furthering his landscape abstraction and signature colours, Parra chose the crispy white classic Dunk Low as the foundation of an entirely new piece, weaving wavy geometrics and swirling colour into expressive accents. Balanced by clean white leather, a stand-alone black leather Swoosh, and full coverage illustrated insoles. Released July 31st 2021, the Parra x Nike SB Dunk Low “Abstract Art” embodies active imagination. A super dope blend of Art and Sneaker culture!
