For 2018s Air Max Day "Vote Forward" campaign, Nike invited a dozen creatives from all over the world - dubbed "Revolutionairs" - to Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon. These artists, designers, DJs, and retailers were tasked with reimagining Nike Air Max styles; the Revolutionair’s shoe with the most votes will have his or her Nike Air model released. The twelve Revolutionairs were Alexandra Hackett (London), Artemy Lebedev (Moscow), Bunyamin Aydin (Istanbul), Celement Balvoine (Amsterdam), Fabikr (Seoul), Kyle Ng (Los Angeles), Lourdes Villagómez (Mexico City), Naotaka Konno (Tokyo), Sean Wotherspoon (Los Angeles), Shangguan Zhe (Shanghai), Tianzhou Chen (Beijing), and Venus X (New York). The winner of the 2017 Vote Forward campaign was Sean Wotherspoon. Released March 26th 2018 in celebration of Air Max Day, the Sean Wotherspoon x Nike Air Max 1/97 VF is a hybrid design featuring an Air Max 97 upper atop an Air Max 1 sole - Wotherspoon’s Round-Two stores had a voting system in place in which only his design could be voted for, cleverly boosting his chances of a win. Wotherspoon’s Air Max 97 x Air Max 1 hybrid is dripped in corduroy, inspired by vintage Nike hats from the ‘80s. Featuring a multicoloured upper, the sneakers also house Velcro tongue patches, an "Infrared" Air unit and a specially designed box. The corduroy is made to fray over time giving off a classic Sean Wotherspoon vintage feel. These sneakers are so fire!
